    P38 Aircon killing me.

Hi all. I've been having Aircon troubles for years now with my p38. Keeps blowing relays. The one in the bottom corner of the fuse box. Someone suggested a new fuse box so I did that but nothing. Basically I put a new relay in every few weeks but soon as it gets hot outside she blows. Sic of buying relays. Any help appreciated. Cheers.

Can't remember if that rl 6 or 7. So it doesn't blow the fuse? You've got the right amperage fuses in?

Would you be able to put a multimeter across the coil side of one of the blown relays and tell us the resistance?

There was a tsb on a crimp in the spade terminals on the blower heaters.

Not often we hear of a relay blowing... they're the heavy little cubes with 4 or 5 spades which plugs into a holder. Fuses are tiny lightweight thingies with 2 legs.

Do you know exactly what dies in the relay? - What does the relay control, - 'everything' or just the pump ?

By now you should have a few dead ones around.. pull one apart and tell us if the contacts are burnt out, or if the coil is open-circuit.

Cheers guys. I've found a page on this relay problem which sounds like my problem. Fingers crossed. Link is here if you want to read it . Fuse Box Repairs

    Pollen filters

If you have not done so already, check your pollen filters, if they are badly clogged they can overload the fans causing relay issues

I had that issue on my old P38 (current one is ok), I bet you run your blower fans hard and fast?

Mine used to blow relays when those blower fans were running hard. Try backing off to 4 or 5 on the speed setting and see how it goes.

Same as rushy has said, check/replace your pollen filters!

    Cheers
