    Gentlemen, start your engines

    The NT is derestricting part of the highway near Alice Springs again in a 12 month trial. It will be interesting to see what happens.
    I noted during the solar car race that some of them were having to slow down to stay within the speed limit.
    Real question will be whether speed is a factor in accidents on that stretch during the trial or whether there are other causes, I guess.
    When we were out there I was happy to cruise at about 120-130km/h because above that the fuel consumption just skyrocketed. Mind you, if you can afford a Ferrari, I guess you're not worried about the price of fuel.
    Can't imagine it will make any difference to Defender owners!

    Hopefully the bull**** the bleeding hearts feed us about speed kills will be laid to rest.

    DiscoMick I think you have it right... "the cost of speed" is what kills normal folk! Either the fuel cost or the ridiculous revenue gouging created by our less than honest self serving public servants.

    BTW, did I hear someone yell CANNON BALL? No doubt the NT will become Porsche country once again... and maybe that section will become a high speed heat test area for the sports car manufacturer's... surely we are cheaper than the Arab states for an industry like that?

    I have noticed in NW QLD they have raised the speed limit on some roads to 110 over the past few months.
    10kph isn't much but it helps cover those long flat miles.
    Not many Police out that way anyway.
