Hi Rob
Thats one mean looking Defender you have there,if me numbers come up sat nite I want one!!!!!
What size are your wheels/tyres?

Barry,
I'll have a crack at an explaination.
Yes, the extra bit that goes up inside the guard needs to be cut off. I reattached mine with little alloy strips & rivets afterwards.
The rubber is 75mm wide. I cut the CP to 90mm.
At the outer edge I have the rubber on top, orig gard next and the CP on the bottom. This gives the rivet something to bite on.
If done right there is a 12-15mm overlap on the inside which is used to attach the assembly to the bodywork. This means the rubber butts up to the side of the body.
Be sure to stretch the rubber as you go otherwise it will pucker as you rivit it. I marked the holed & then drilled about 2-3mm away to get a little tension in the rubber.
Hope this helps a little.
Rob

Andy,
The tyres are 33x11.5" Simex JT2's on Extreme (I know spelt wrong) 15x7" rims.
Overall diamater is only about 1" larger than OE so doesn't effect gearing, spedo etc.
And they climb like a billy goat when dropped to about 15 lbs.
