Sounds like duel; handbags at 3 paces at dawn tomorrow?
So what?
If you read what I wrote you'd understand it was in reference to my personal experience with a CR diesel that i owned. I didn't make the statement that all 2008 diesels are CR.
You are very good at presuming and it's not working well for you.
You can read yeah?
Sorry to rain on your parade, but there's another VW fan here! We have 2 Land Rovers, both diesel, and two Golfs, both diesel! My old 1990 GTD imported when we came from the land of Winging Poms, now has over 400000km on it. Its spent a fair part of its life running on veg oil and I've never been gentle with it. Love it and trust it! My wife does over 100km a day from the Barossa to the city daily. We bought an MY12 Golf GTD DSG... Normally we'd never by new, but the deal was right. Its suffered my wife's lead foot since day 1, now has 66000 kms on it, has not missed a beat, still manages 5.5lt/100km and goes like hell!! Anything euro or jap and diesel seems pretty good. I'd still be slow to buy Korean, Chinese, or Indian, but that's just me. :)
I posted this this morning, but it went to the electrons in the sky. Here it is again. I wanted an economical car to relieve the Defender of some daily k's. When I googled economical cars Australia, a diesel MINI came up more economical than a Prius. I thaught I would give one a spin, but there were none to drive up here north of Cairns. There were some MINI sports around, so drove them. After the first drive I was sold on at least a sport (ie forget economics). I now have a 2008 JCW MINI as my second drive, and am having a blast in it. :D
Take a MINI for a drive at least before you purchase something else.
Cheers,
Ken
Another vote for a VW Diesel however mine wears a Skoda Badge. Quit a few VW badged cars are and have been for a while assembles in China. It's the same now for some of the Skoda. Mine was built in Czech where they have been built since 1905. I like to give my mate heaps about his Tiguan which was built just down the road from the Cherry Factory, you know, next door to Great Wall.
and dont believe all the crap you hear about the DSG. Mine is the best vehicle I have ever owned.
Happy Days.
I think there response was fine. The problem was not that wide spread but the media made it look that way.
I think part of the issue is some people dont know how to use them. We have to remember that many of the drivers on the road these days have never driven a manual.
Happy Days
Here goes it again haha
Highly Recommend Hyundai I30. Had one for nearly 6 years. :D:D:D
Would I buy another. YES You bet & nearly have :D:D:D:D
Don't think you could go to far wrong by getting one of these
Gary
Which Skoda do you have?
BTW, DSG confusion seems mainly centred around the 6sp on diesel engines. Maybe it's shift points being different but petrol owners never report their box being confused by roundabouts.
It's very hard to find a used diesel i30. Owners have a death grip on them.
