It's a great read, I definitely recommend it.
Never been to Birdsville but his descriptions of life there for a city boy are pretty funny, especially the hot/cold water taps!

I've read it. It gives a good description of life in Birdsville. He spent a year there.
He writes books about all sorts of stuff and places. Goes there, has a look, writes a book.

Well, I finished the book yesterday and I can say that it is a darn good read.
It gives a lot of information about the town and district plus history that you would probably not learn as a casual visitor.

The people he writes about are the usual friendly, funny, tough as nails folk that make up all small outback communities.
The thing that comes through as always is what holds these outback settlements and stations together through thick and thin and that is the Women. A breed apart, lovable and strong and loyal.
It will be a life changing experience for the auther and his wife.

He also writes a bit about a young bloke named Zues.
A few of you may not be aware that a lot of the outback characters are Dogs.

I recommend that you buy the book because it is one that you will want to read again any number of times over the years.
