Its a lockover pin dohickey,.....................well maybe i know what it is but not what its called
Sometimes I know what I waant but have no idea how to ask for it.
For example: A might say: It's like a nail thing with a split at the end that spreads out.. and then you, with your infinite knowledge would say - that's a split pin you idiot.
OK so you get the idea.
I want to know what the name for one of those circular things with a movable 'tongue' that clicks into place. Yeah, ok so I'm confused too. Bear with me. Maybe by explaing what its for. Poke a pin into a piece of tube and out the other end. There is a hole drilled through the pin near its end. One now puts the 'tongue' of the widget through the hole, and flicks the circular bit over the end of the pin. The pin is thus captive in the cylindrical bit until the gadget is removed.
What is the widget called ? Anyone ?
Maybe if I just say that you know how on traybacks the sides are secured to the tray floor by sliding the pins on the sides into the 'cylindrical buts' on the edge of the tray..... well, how can one secure them there but without affixing them permanently ?
Anyone still with me ?
Signed,
Very Very :?

Yup Robbie's right it's a spring pin and they are available in different sizes from good spares shops or tractor/implement shops, you see them on modded cars holding the bonnet down, the others are "K" or "R" clips also in different sizes.
