Maybe wondering why he bought it

    Gday All,

My next door neighbour came over a few times asking about the D3 and "why I bought a Land Rover ", got the usual speil, and told him that so far cant fault the D3, D2 before that was great as well.

About 3 weeks ago he arrives home in a new looking BMW (X something,X5 maybe) nice looking car from the little I have seen , thats because today was the 3rd time its been flat bedded out of his driveway.

Havent spoken to him since the first flatbed when he said he went thru some water on the road and it lit up like a chrissy tree and went no further. Seeing we have been having some major rain lately it could be the same thing.

Will see if he tells me what they say is causing it.

    Cheers Ean

I'll take a stab and say it will be water getting into the ECU, maybe because of it's location??

From memory the D3 suffered the same thing with the suspension ECU

Had a BMW X5 as the wife wanted a change after a couple of Range Rovers. Now why did I listen to someone who does not have a drivers licence, nor do any of her sisters, or for that matter her parents?

Was certainly an opportunity to understand why they have such large and well provisioned customer waiting facilities in the dealership. Spent many hours there waiting for my BMW and the mechanic to finish their latest fling. Often they were so into each other I would have to go home and come back in a week or so.

Have never owned such an unreliable car before in my life. At least my wife no longer lectures me about the quality and reliability of the BMW's that her friends have.
