and barney i wasnt picking on just LROC, was generalising clubs in general,whether it be lroc,bill blogs 4wd trek abouts ,or whatever!
some are into the club scene ,some are not,it is just unfortunate that some seem to have a minority that think if people arent doing things their way it is all wrong, and want to change the world to their way of thinking! :?

i know where you're coming from ferno', i was always dead against clubs as i had a big group of friends that i went 4wding with and whenever we saw a club in the bush, they'd all make exactly the same mistakes over and over again, which made it look like there was a "do as i say" mentality among the club heirachy.
so my friends and i decided that we didn't need any clubs because we did just fine without them. (this is not having a go at you ferno). that was back in 1982.
as time went on and the weekend trips became fortnightly, then monthly, then only on long weekends and finally just every now and then when one of the other guys could make it, it became harder and harder to find places to go bush.
to tell you the truth, if i hadn't got my landy, i probably wouln't have joined a club at all.
my initial reasons for joining the LROC was to meet people with landys who knew more about them than i did so i could gain more knowledge about my vehicle. the other reason was to find more places to go on weekends and have a group to go with.
as the years went on and i eventually broke through the glass ceiling and got to know the people in the club, i've found that they are mostly a great bunch of people and i enjoy getting along to the meetings and talking crap with everyone as much as going on the trips.
although i've got 22yrs of 4wding behind me now, i still think there is always something new to learn from your peers and i intend to get along to some of the driver training days when i can (haven't yet though), if i learn something new, great, if i don't i'll have a good day out anyway in the bush and probably have a good chuckle on the way at someone elses expense (but all in good fun)
