Hi Adam
Go camping in a tent for the first time and your getting a camper trailer. Was it the possum in the rubbish bag or my snoring in the tent next door that is creating your next toy????????????
What sort of camper are you looking at? I have a trailer madfe from an old landy that a friend gave me that I hope to build into a camper one day.(After the house,Toy, Extreme ETC!!!!!!!)

Hi Agro, we built a camper using a 130 tub based trailer with a large metal box mounted on the drawbar. took me 3 months of hard work but turned out reasonably well.
If I built another I would make some changes just like building a house.
My wife is at me for mark 2 but she'll have to wait untill I get the energy for it.
There are some pictures on my gallery if you are interested.

campertrailers

I have looked at every thing around and when I buy I am going secondhand as the new ones are very exspencive and making sure that I buy a hard floor as this means a hard floor becomes a hard top less dust and if it rains your feet are up out of the water. A good one new will set you back 25,000 up thats too much when you look what you can buy in a caravan. I have seen trailers from 5,000 up but then you need to set it up with the gear you need genny's jerry's you know the stuff to make it happen in some comfort. I at my age need a bit of comfort I dont know about you I hope this helps. Lance

Hi Agrojnr, buying a second-hand camper is not a bad idea.
I bought a Trek Traitor new. Nothing on the trailer fits together properly.
The nose cone ( which is a great idea ) from day one leaked like a sieve.
I took it back and at first they did not want to replace it even though they know that this was the main reason I bought there trailer, because they made out it was water proof.
After getting that replaced, I then went around the trailer and started fixing all the other problems.
The main headache is all the rust that is coming through everything and this heap of garbage was bought new not 4 months ago so buying a second-hand trailer is a good way of finding out what ware and tear will do to it before you buy. ops:

Are you talking about building an off-road trailer form a 6 x 4 or something similar? eg - adding suspension, wheel base similar to yoiur towing vehicle etc.

Ive often thought of getting a 6 x 4 seeing if i could find a bolt on fold out tent section for the top. Id like to go wild on one and customise the trailer to perfectly suit me.
cheers

Yes I am I have been looking for a while at all combinations and I think I have came up with the goods just waiting to here back from a tent manufacture to see what they say.

All the trailer parts I can get cheap and that will cause no problem its just the sleeping part that I have had the most problems but hopefully soon to be sorted

Thanks Antaine, I would love to but I bought the trailer through the business for the business and as such, Fair trading does not work for business to business complaints so I will now have to let others know via the net so they can be aware of of what to expect if they consider dealing with Trek Trailers.
PS I was at the fishing and camping show in Brisbane a few weeks ago and made sure I went past the Trek Trailer exhibit a number of times
Each time I did, I waited till some one came out and I then pointed out all the problems they would have if they bought one of the trailers. This was especially easy as the trailers they had on display had similar problems and made it easy to show the potential buyers.
LOVE PAY BACK.
