i suggested one night when all the committee members were allowed at the meetings, that things like a list of product tests available to download to members and maybe repair tips (as long as they're correct). library content, and pretty well anything that costs money to print in the mag each month that we could cover on the website instead.
it'd be a big ask to compile it all, it may even take longer than the constitution changes but i think in the long run, it'd be well worth it

An LROC Member's only forum like this would be good too. Somewhere we can discuss stuff without it being in the open arena. A bit like a club meeting on-line.

I know hows this for an Idea, produce the LROC magazine on line - have a copy posted out to those that dont have on line access, afterall that is a very GREEN approach.

Also - I know that Incisor was looking to sell some advertising space on this site to help with the upkeep.

What about this - the club buys some advertising of incisor on the site - in return the club gets some adretising and then they do a deal for a forum on line here. with perhaps some locked threads for Lroc members. See incisor has this site set up - the It framework is in place for forums, its got great protection from threats and its in a place where others can add in.

There will always be those who wanna chat behind closed doors...but hey its worked and just quietly worked well for REMLR.

Just thoughts guys , dont flame me if what i say about the IT side of things isnt quite right, im just tryong to drum up some advertising $ for Inc. which in turn im sure some of which comes back into the site.

Fairdinkum this has to just about be the best Australian Landrover Oners Site. With an very large membership, nationally wuith a wide range of varied hats we all wear.

what dya recon

Oh, you won't get flamed by me. I like to use technology to make life easier. Setting up an LROC member's page here is not a bad idea - the infrastructure is already in place.

Re putting the mag on line, when I was editor of the LROC News, I toyed with posting the mag on-line as a PDF file. Unfortunately, file sizes tended to be quite high (2.5-3.5Mb -- In MS Publisher format in which they were created, the files often ran to 60 Mb) as I often produced a mag with 28-32 pages, sometimes more.

Unless one has broadband, downloading files that size can be tiresome. I have broadband which was good because I was never worried about huge image file people would often send to me.

The mag would probably need to be in the Member's area. Otherwise some would claim there was no need to be in the Club if the mag was free-to-air. However, in all honesty, noone should ever be able to claim that was the sole reason for being in the Club.

Barney,

All that is in place just waiting for the authers to submit their articles. Like all things in the magazine people are tardy getting these in on time. If we waited for it all to come together the website would never have got up at all. Its there now mate and it will develop just keep watching after you get passwood etc. be 8)

Guys,

I'm sure your both right, I'd probably get moderated too many times, but it would be fun, I'm sure I'd cop some as well.

I do like to say what I feel, I hate holding back, which I do often have to do.

I will enquire and report

on a forum like this, we natter on, insult each other (in a loving way), argue with each other and very rarely see each other. we sort of know each other but most of us wouldn't know another forum member if we ran over one (unless they had a sticker). BUT..... a lroc only thread would run the risk of putting someones nose out and then having to face them at the next meeting. that's why i think it would be a bad thing.
on the other hand, i agreewith roverone that it would be a meeting with out the committee 8)
