Looks good Geoff.
I think shelf life may be limited. be worth checking them every couple of months.
Seen these in Red at Big W for $5 so I brought 2. they can either be a torch, a glow stick or a flashing glow stick. very handy for night time breakdowns or trying to get attention.

They are guaranteed for several years and are chem cell powered
That is right, but at $5 each they won't be great and you can afford to buy a handfull to check their shelf life for confidence in an Emergency.
Once you have established their life you won't have to crack any more.
Also ensure the batteries are seperated in storage and only replaced correctly for testing. If you intend putting them in your 'Serious' Emergency kit, the one you may depend on for your life, replace the crap batteries for some quality ones. Yes they become more than $5 torches but you can then rely on them to work when needed.
Cheers, BDave.
