Crying babes are the least of my problems, and the increasing "everything but the kitchen sink" attitude to carry on luggage irks a bit - the rules are clear, and the airlines need to enforce them if not for safety in terms of weight distribution. I am not afraid to hand my carry on bag to a steward with a smile and say "I am sure you can sort this out".

However, I did buy a set of Bose noise cancelling earphones a few months ago and most of the noise problems simply disappeared. Encroaching fatties and seat kickers are another issue.......

    Cheers
I agree. The BOSE noise cancelling headphones are the go. I use them a lot with work as well. In flight entertainment on a C17, iPad and BOSE headphones.

Yep, go the noise cancelling headphones. Although a bit bulky, definitely go the over ear, not the in ear.

I passenger a LOT on the airlines positioning to crew our aircraft, and yes the baggage size is annoying. Most of the problem is that it costs to put baggage in the hold these days, and the turnarounds are usually too tight time-wise for the cabin crew to check carry on bags.

I fly a lot and same have the noise cancelling head phones and work well

But I have two massive pet hates

One is the last set of people who get on the plane are alway the idiots who have a large carry on case packed with in an inch of its life and the biggest " laptop bag " you have ever seen. And the. Start huff and puffing when there's no room for their bags in the over head and then really get mad when it has to be moved down the plane from where that are.

My second thing that annoys me is when the plane lands and you are getting off. The people who just sit there and do nothing until it comes their turn to leave the plane and that is when they get up and get their bag and start to fill it slowly with all their stuff while holding up everyone else. I just want to get off and go

On the subject of noise cancelling headphones I've got a set of old Bose QC 2 headphones that I use for work. I had to get a new set of ear pads for them last year as they were worn out. We're off to the US for a holiday and I got SWMBO a pair of Audio Technica ATH-ANC9 headphones for about $220.00 delivered. I reckon that they are better than my old Bose ones and by reading the reviews not far behind the Bose QC15s.
Noise cancelling headphones are worth every cent in my book.

I find flying far more enjoyable as the horror rather than the horree.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Yeah, I bought the same for my wife the other day. I thought they were better than the Bose too. And an allfull lot cheaper as well.

Yes, but the people who jump up and start pushing people out of the way and pulling stuff down on people the second you're on the ground also **** me off.
Yes, don't hold people up. But don't be a dick about it.

I've got the AudioTechnica ones - I think its the same model. Work very well in aircraft. I've had them for 5 years now. Only hitch was a leaking battery spoilt one of the contacts. Cleaned it and good to go again.

Also used them when driving for hours over the Antarctic Tundra in Hagglunds (tracked vehicles). Great to be able to listen to some music as it was about 95dB in the cabin. Great for Defender drivers?

Yep I have audio technica as well quiet point...had them now for about 5 years paid about 180/200bux and they are still going strong....the noise cancelling on them is really good I often just put them on with no music when flying just to drown out the plane for sleeping
