Price is based on a 40 year old male with a good driving record and for private use.

Rather interesting T &C's from volks wagen Australia. What if you happen to be female or bit younger or older bloke. Could have worded it bit better don't you think?

I can't understand what age or gender has to do with the price of a vehicle.

If it was a quote for insurance on a vehicle it would make a bit more sense.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Isn't it for 'drive away' pricing?
If so, then insurance is involved.

Seems to be an all inclusive package with comprehensive vehicle insurance... most, if not all car dealers rely on "value added" extras to increase their sales margin... insurance premiums, extended warranties, paint and upholstery treatments etc have large profit margins...

In Vic drive away price means price of car plus all mandatory expenses like dealer delivery, rego and stamp duty. It does not include insurance other than third party, which is included in rego and is the same for all people, regardless of age.

The fine print that states this stays the same for a Vic or NSW postcode just it must just be a general disclaimer.

In NSW Third party insurance "green slip" price depends on location in Sydney or outside, and the driving record and age of the drivers.

I pay about $367 while a city dweller with a bad record can pay up to $600.

Green Slip rip off in NSW

    Hi All,
recently was told by NRMA that my green slip for my 99 defender ute would be over $830 yet the previous year was only $357--why the huge increase I asked? Was told NRMA does not want utes any more as too many accidents--I replied it is the driver who causes accidents not the type of car. No offer --take it or leave it. A month or so later I tried again as my other policies are with NRMA and low and behold due to people dropping out of NRMA green slips they reduced the price to around $600. I also asked why my dealer had sold me a brand new 130 CC --has a tray and he did the green slip with NRMA for about $360 --I said that this is unaccepatble that he can get that rate not me--they argued it must have been a mistake! Still QBE was about the same as my previous year ie less than $360 so that is who got my business.
