Thread: Importing from UK - Ashcrofts

I just bought an R380 , transfer box, clutch, and fork, and I paid 5% duty, 10% GST on the invoiced items. Was still cheaper than buying here and I paid for freight to my door, took just over a week. And I get to keep the old boxes to play with.
Paid the duty and tax when invoiced by the freighting company, but they where on forwarding the whole thing for me.

When I ordered my Underdrives from Ashcrofts,I also only paid 5% duty and 10% GST.You would need to ask Ashcrofts about freight costs as they usually ship using TNT and they act as the clearing agents and your freight costs usually include delivery to your door.

Just remembered they also invoice the box and the core deposits separately, and only send the relevant one with the goods, and email the one for the core deposit, so you only pay the tax and duty on the actual box price, not the extended price.

Have a chat with Ben at modern motors in dungog before you order anything from the uk, the way he sold it to me was their rebuild boxes are equivalent to what Ashcroft well send out.

5% duty on auto parts generally, handling charges from UK are a killer so be prepared to bend over. Dont even look at airfreight costs, slow boat is cheapest option at 5-6 weeks transit.

going to disagree with this.

Freight isn't a killer from the UK or from Ashcrofts in my experience. In all honesty for the underdrive I ordered it was pretty reasonable.

TNT tracked, parcel weighing 31kgs on a small pallet to my door for 135pounds. Was here in about 6 days including waiting for customs clearance

From my experience you will likely get charged 5% duty, 10% gst and about 55$ in fees.

All up on a circa $3100 order I paid $463 in fees/charges

Also I very much doubt most suppliers will even consider trying to sort sea freight

Agree wholeheartedly..............Ashcrofts are brilliant to deal with. One of my orders was 240kg including pallet, saved over $3000.00 on local prices and had a phone call from TNT 4 days after it was dispatched to pay the duty and customs. 7 days to my door.
