Thumbs up Cat curfew to run 24 hours

Cat curfew to run 24 hours in Yarra Ranges Shire

A Victorian council will banish cats from its streets after it voted to impose a 24-hour cat curfew.

The Shire of Yarra Ranges will require that cats be confined to their owner's property at all times when the new policy is enforced in six months.

I hope that this will be the start for all the shires to follow. I cannot believe that took so long!!

    Nice.
if a dog has to have a fence, a cat should have an enclosure. fair is fair.

My wife is a cat lover, a cat judge at the Royal Easter Show in fact, and she is in total agreement with this 100%. Cats have absolutely no place running free in Australia. Our yard is cat proof, the cats get plenty of exercise and sunshine and they are locked away at night. It's easy, they don't get sick or injured but more importantly they don't annoy the crap out of everyone in the street or kill wildlife. 99% of cat owners are irresponsible chumps, you can't blame a cat for being a cat.

That is great news, I really hope this does spread across the country, these destructive creatures need to be controlled. If I let my dog run around crapping on people's lawn killing ducks etc....I'd be branded an irresponsible pet owner but my neighbours two cats can kill birds in my driveway, frogs in my garden and can crap wherever they like and nothing happens! I have no dramas with responsible cat owners who do the right thing and control their cats, it's ones like my neighbours I have problems with. Their cats will be pushing up daisies if I catch them in my yard killing anything.

that is horrible to suggest a .22 is a good option! serious or not! that is really mean.
i do agree that cats should be not allowed to roam. the world is not safe for them, too many wish harm to them, and the wild life is at risk from them. my cats have never roamed. inside only, gooutside on leads and a cat run will be built for them in the near future. people who let their cats roam fail them and the native wild life. there should also be cheaper desexing for all animals, and only registered breeders and animals should be allowed to breed. cats especially as the amount of kittens ive had to find and rehome thanks to irresponsible peple dumpign their pregnant cats!
