V8 4/4.6 of course can be swapped but no need for the ecu, the 2.5 BMW diesel would be the only engine i'd bother to swap but even then the TD5 makes more sense.
Auto box will need the ECU or aftermarket ECU so really no point.
Could the engine and boxes from a P38 be transferred into a Disco including the ecu ?
There are many features on the P38 that the ecu control that are not found on an early Disco but using a Nanocom, could they be turned off or isolated so that the ecu just handled the engine and boxes thingy's ?
Just wondering.

well Im going to go for weird thought...
because the p38 engine/boxes and ecu dont run well in the p38 so why would you put one in a disco![]()
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
I dont.
The P38a that I drive with the 5 ltr engine runs really well and gearbox no trouble at all. I cant say the same about the fracking eas.
I have a Nanocom and I play with it. Good gear.
Anyway down the track I plan to put an auto box in Me Disco to sit behind the 3.5 which I am quite happy with. But thats another story.
I just got to thinking and wondering about putting a P38 engine and boxes wholusbolus into an early disco. Would it need an ecu, what one etc.
Idle thoughts with no intention of doing it. But no harm in asking, eh.
About Me Disco, it has one of those horrible LT77 thingy's.
I could put a better model manual box in but this P38 has spoilt me, so I want an auto with cruise control in the thing.
I'll probably lift a box from an auto 3.9 on it's last legs.
Cheers.
