Nobody has given an answer to my original question. Why do I have a set that has not been retuned yet still gets all the normal channels?

I didn't need to retune as it was exactly the same as before. Channel 2 was no different as it was still unwatchable.
I just did the retune in the hope that Ch 2 was an improvement, and it was.
I assume that if you had good reception before the re-tune, then you'd have no reason to do it.

Everyone will have to do the Re-Tune, as they are making way for catch up TV on the upper end of the bandwidth. There is going to be a new service added to the channels, which will be like Iview or Ten play or whatever flavour you like. Not every set top box will be able to use this function when it happens. The Re-Tune has nothing to do with reception issues, that is not its purpose.
So that explains why I get a lot more information on one of my TV's about what shows / movies etc are on than I do on a slightly older set.
When we did the re-tune over here, we lost SBS and associated channels for a couple of weeks (where I'm staying in Perth - but no problem in Kalgoorlie). Turned out that the Strata company had to install a different antenna in the apartment building to allow reception of SBS etc. No problems since then.
But all these extra channels we now have ..................... are complete crap.
I've now figured out how to set the remote control to "ignore" most of them.![]()

Agreed, there isn't much worth watching these days. As you say, its complete crap. But that's why we have this forum![]()
