    Smile Things you find

Yes folks it`s hard rubbish time around here. Must say the quality of rubbish has been, well rubbish. The area in general needs to llift it`s game. But did manage three good finds though. Picked up a near new computer. All complete, even had the hard drives still with the previous owners stuff on them. Would start up but struggled. Then it went blank. Know enough about computers to realise the ram may at fault. So put the ram from my computer in it and away it went. System is a Gigabyte AM2+ micro atx board, 5200 dual core cpu, two 500 gb sata 2 hard drives and a 200 gb sata hard drive, sata dvd/cd combo reader burner, cheap graphic card and dud ram. So just need to get some working ram and a reasonable graphic card. Next computer was not as new but still very good also with the previous owners stuff on it. System is a MSI intel core duo atx board., dual core 2600 cpu, 250 gb sata hard drive. Was missing ram and a graphic card. Finally I picked up a working 19" lcd monitor. All that for nothing.

Our council's rubbish collection is a joke, they will not accept computers, screens or TV's, they will not even accept cardboard boxes. So last time I put my rubbish out, all the things that would normally be in a cardboard box were just piled up with the other stuff. Seems a lot of other people did the same, because it took the council employees an extra week to pick up all the small individual items (that would have been in 1/2 a dozen cardboard boxes), they have decided to allow cardboard boxes for this years collection, guess it wasn't about recycling after all, Regards Frank.

We have a pamphlet sent by our council that states what will be and won`t be collected. I pleased to see that from what I have seen that about 99.999 % of the local pheasants have chose to ignore this decree. The rule of thumb applied to our hard rubbish collection seems to be, if it can be moved some how to the nature strip, it`s gone. Whole contents of houses have been moved to the nature strip. Fridges, washing machines, stoves even the carpet and underlay. Some of the piles are quite impressive in there size and content. I put our lot out a few weeks early, as you should, so that it could be well picked over before collection. About a third has been taken.

Ah joys of the spelling of words. One little letter makes all the difference, one could say it was a fowl up, but that would be a play on words, would it not ?

I was up around there a couple of Sundays ago and picked up a 1977 2 door RRC, 2x2 lift, on Cooper 35's (?), 4.4, R380, F&R Maxi, F&R ARB bars, Warn winch, longrange tank, heaps of spares including endless air, etc, etc.

Beautifully put together by Chris............ wasn't on his nature strip and I was happy to make a contribution to the charity of his choice.

    cheers, DL

We put everything out and they took the lot today even a small freezer. Even the bumper bar off our disco 2, as we put a bull bar on our disco 2 now. They say they recycle the metal, I watch as they put everything in one truck and crushed it up, so much for them recycle items. Go Yarra Rangers(lol)
