Do not shoot it with an air rifle....
In fact do not shoot it full stop..its not a declared pest, and if its an Australian Magpie its native, you will find yourself in trouble from more than one authority.
Without wanting to appear cruel and without empathy for the poor creatures, but shooting one of them with an air rifle (shouldn't upset your doggie too much) and hanging it on a pole or tree somewhere in your backyard might well do the trick and keep the rest of the flock away.

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.

Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
I grow garlic in one paddock, with another spare. Both paddocks are about 1.5 acres.
For over a month last year there would have been well over 200 magpies in both paddocks (for about 6 weeks AFAIR), no blues at all. They were eating worms. A few (old?) ones karked it around the place but that didn't seem to be any sort of deterrent.
Never seen anything like it and have footage if someone wants to PM me and put it online.
cheers, DL
