I want it put cant afford it!!!!!!!

Hi Guys
In last weeks Quokka there was a Landy I would really like to aquire but just dont have the funds.

1988 Landrover 6x6.
3.9 Izuzu turbo diesel
low km
white??
the killer $18000

This would be a Perentie, would it not? I was also under the impression most of these were for the military,BUT I remember back to the Bicentenial roadshow that toured the country, there were heaps of Landies in the fleet, all white (from memory of seeing them all at Langley park in Perth) I remember looking at one of these 6x6 traytops back then thinking I WANT I WANT I WANT!!!!!!!!!.Didnt Landrover provide the "Official" fleet?
This one appearred white in the black and white photo,is it likely a Bicentenial Landy or were they also sold to the general public?

I once had pics of these Landies but havent seen them for many years and Im afraid they are lost.

What was the windscreen like?? the perentie 6x6 models have a taller windscreen. I have seen pics of a white civilian 6x6 (they are in the gallery somethere) with the regular windscreen(made by LR). Not a bad price considering it's rarity. Man I hope I win lotto this weekend. Purchase No 1, 6x6

I didn't know they made them that late. Check to make sure it is not an after market mod.

The Perentie models have a wider body than the standard '110' body models. There have been a couple of standard models for sale in Queensland in the last 2 years for about $13500 and $16500 from memory. I went and look at it (the cheaper one) myself and was very tempted to borrow the money and buy it. It was a 1985 model with a 4 speed manual lower geared transfer box (I think) and a 4BD1T 3.9 Isuzu with an after market intercooler. Three things to look for to see if it is a genuine factory item are the compliance plate should indicate '6 x 6', a second third drive shaft coming out of the rear of the gear box to the passenger side of the other rear drive shaft, and the chassis were different in that they had a twin (over under) chassis rail.

go to http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/ecars/Perentie/6x6b.html to have a look at the two different types and the chassis. The wide body type is very rare outside the army. I've only seen one for sale about 3 yrs ago for about $30,000. It has a front and rear track of about 1700mm.

Remember when purchasing a 6 x 6 that fuel consumption will average about 19l/100km and unless you have a motor home on the back the rego will be according to its weight capacity (ie the same as a small truck over a grand each year).

Yeah, as it happens, Thursday was one of those days.

Saturday was better though. I gave some money to Dave, and he gave some to Mr Costello and in the end neither of us is rich, but Mr C. is.

The system's rigged, I tells yer.
