How about an ex-army Unimog?
After all Mercedes did promote the original Unimog for agricultural use.
Might not be so good outside the farm gates though.

What about one of the Perenties that the army is selling off? good 4 cylinder3.9ltr Izusu 4BD1 diesel and near on industructable LT95 transmission,no computer or fly by wire electrics,and you should be able to remove the canvas top and replace with either ute cab or double cab and seats and still come out well below $20-25K :)
