    Good farm truck

    Howdy folk,

I dont get to post as much anymore for those of you who miss my wit and charm.

Anyhoo....without bias.....what are peoples opinions on a good dual cab 4wd for mainly farm work up to around $25k. My heart says a 130 but would like honest opinions in terms of issues, servicing etc. Thanks in advance,

    Regards

    Stevo

    130....
Fit everything and the kitchen sink in it, if you go a 300tdi then it's all super simple, you don't need high performance from a farm hack. Capable, cheap to run, what more do you want?

Thanks for that. It will have some long distance driving duties on occasion and so needs to be reasonably comfortable plus will most likely end up on a few 4WD trips. I have no mechanical aptitude so will need to be something that most mechanics can work on,

Have a drive of a defender and see if you like it, it ain't for everyone, particularly us civilised D2 owners who are used to a level of refinement
Other than that, should be fine.

probably going to get bagged out for this but maybe a triton could be worth looking at i have seen them going for just over your budget. they come with a good level of equipment power windows, cruise control, blue tooth also they have good cabin space very good on the highway good engine and fuel economy also 5 year driveline warranty and not to bad offroad. now the bad points ugly looking thing, rear overhang is to big the ride is a little on the harsh side, interior plastics feel a bit cheap and 5th gear is a tad to short. i had dualcab one as a company car and i was using it as a family/work/play and it did what i asked with no dramas. hope this helps

Well within budget, probably need a bit spent to get it to where you want/need it - but already a pretty good base unit with some mods included.

As a part time Navara driver, avoid these at all costs!
As a part time 130 driver, if you find a flood one they are great, if you find one like mine, you through away a lot of money (new gearbox).
As crappy as they are, if you can get away with a hilux, they are cheap, and spare parts are abundant.
    Good luck.
