Open wheel race cars are not designed for top speed due to poor aerodynamic fundamentals. Le mans car bodies etc are better suited.
Now I have no idea, but almost seems as if the F1 bosses are aligned with the auto industry in some way and are being the testers/developers of new tech. Small capacities, turbos, recovering energy etc??
These cars are not fast (yes they are but lets put it into perspective) how long has it been since the fan cars of Can-am, or the 917/30 that had ridiculous acceleration and top speed.
While these are open wheelers, its been over 40 years and you would think they would be up there with speed, with the added safety???

Sabre rattling. Ferrari have done it many times before, even went as far as to build a prototype car I the late 1980's to go to America and do Indycar instead of F1. They got their way.
Every year the "rules" make them worse and worse...
F1 is meant to be "the pinnacle" of racing.
Right now... It's certainly not.
What the hell it is going on with the Red Bull team and Australian drivers!!
Ricciardo team left a wheel nut loose which cost Ricciardo 10 seconds in the race plus loosing 10 positions in the next!!
The 10 positions in the next race it is clear that there are political issues between Red Bull and F1 authorities. It is over the top IMO.
It's worth watching just to see the shambles that ensues after the chequered flag falls.
Much better than neighbours or home and away.
I would like to see what would happen if the Red Bull owner and Renault announced they will pull out of f1 at the end of season.
Pity Daniel went to red bull, if he had gone to any of the other three he would win a World Championship.
PS: good on Felipe holding his ground.
