I sent the photos to a snake identifier and they have said that it would appear to be a common tree snake, however you can never be certain from photos.
what shape was it head? l would think it is not a carpet from the photo. my first thought was a rough scale snake, the 4th deadliest snake in the world, but would need better photos to be sure.

I was told once that non venous move slowly and venous will give you a run for your money
Definitely does not look like a trouser snake or bedroom snake to me...

Looks like a brown tree snake.
Fairly quick, harmless & have the look of a Taipan about them only thinner & smaller. They will go anywhere for a frog.

Impossible to tell from that pic.1 thing is sure, it is NOT a taipan because you are still here to write this column!But hazarding a guess from the flecking it is a Keelback. They do get a bit upset if handled
All ways the rule of thumb is, If the breed and type is unknown, treat as the most dangerous snake in the world! Which it could be, so many have died because they thought it was harmless!
In the real, non politically correct world, there are two sorts of snakes. Live ones and ones at my place.
It's really simple. No potential risk to human life is worth a snakes continued existence. Get over it, kill the bastard and move on.
