An email today, off to Belfast next week.
At her age if she got sick somewhere there is a good chance they may not let her travel back.Suppose it doesn't matter,no risk,no gain.
Travelling to Europe doesn't really interest me,although if SWMBO wanted to go i would go as well, but Africa,Galapagos islands, maybe Antarctica,South America, now that would be interesting.
I agree, but I'd include Europe in my much wider list.
Current 'must see before I die' list includes:
Chile
Brazil
Canada
Alaska
South Korea
Japan (again)
Africa (from south to north)
Italy
Spain
Portugal

Geez, I'd pay SWMBO's Mum to go oversea's, if she got sick and didn't come back, that would be a bonus!!
Here's a thought Ron, Get out on the bike, do a bloody long ride and clear your head (it works a treat for me) then HTFU and do it just one more time.
Cheers Ian

Ron I read your post regarding the ships you want to see - so would I mate, so would I. But if you end up going (and I hope you do) get your arse along to the Victory as well eh !
Take a point and shoot camera rather than lug around a full dslr kit. Don't feel a typical tourist need to take a picture of EVERYTHING you see. Just take photos of those things that are a bit unusual, or really grab your attention or that you might want to look at again (a nice bridge or something).
And rent a bike somewhere mate and have fun. Maybe you could swing by the Stelvio pass.....?

I can't write a reasoned reply - I'm out at Coonabrabran on a 3-day motorsickle ride and have consumed the better part of a bottle of red. I'm now in bed replying via my phone. Goodnight all

Ron I can understand were your coming from , My wife also likes to book overseas trips every year , and has done so since she had Breast Cancer . She says you never know what is around the corner , and I agree . I come from the uk. we will be going for 8 weeks later this year . The funny thing is we go to places that we never dreamed of visiting when we lived there . Sitting in airports ,and on planes is just a means to an end no one likes that . I must say once there ,there are so many places , or things you can do . I call my holidays tag along , because that's what I do , We were there last year for 6 weeks and It went in the blink of an eye . But Ron if you don't want to go and do , you will make It a miserable experience for both of you , that would be a shame . kind regards Jim..
I can sympathize with you Ron. My SWMBO has been to China and Vietnam with out me, I did not want to go. She is now trying to drag me along some where OS but I don't really have any interest going OS.
I would much prefer holidaying in OZ. If I did go, Sollihull would be the only place I would want to see.
Dave.
I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."
