Well then, glad I asked.....![]()
The rules for politics are there, but are grey amongst mods.
Personally if it was me I would of deleted this thread a log time ago.
However I would like to answer Akellys points on exceptable
The reason that politics on this forum is not exceptable over other stuff that you feel is less exceptable is because of You lot
The rules have nothing to do with the G Rating of this forum or how people take those particular subjects, its because many of you when it comes to taking about politics and religion simply can not behave like adults plain and simple.
If you all interacted on here like adults an didn't squabble when you don't like how someone puts their view across, then these two rules wouldn't even excist!!

No, I get it. I've been on the receiving end of a admin-slap at least once. I'm definitely aware of what happens when we talk politics (cantina fiasco anyone?).
All good - it's a fun place to hang out, probably better for not having the religion and politics stuff that other forums have. It is difficult when topics like this one or anything to do with AGW are so politically charged - as Chucaro said: how can you discuss them properly without bringing the politics into it?
Shine on, you crazy diamonds!
The problem isn't politics, the problem is when people want to attack those who express opinions they disagree with. The title of this thread ('Political correctness and do gooders') is a perfect example of that kind of labelling (usually from Team Blue supporters, I notice). Intolerance of disagreement is the problem, not politics. Suppose I called a thread 'The extreme rightwing nutjobs have gone too far'. How long would it last? Yet apparently its OK to go one way, but not the other, according to some people.

I have found out that I have to refrain to talk about politics (domestic and international) not only because the forum rules but because some issues affect me emotional and therefore my health in a big way.
I understand what dullbird said and those that are affected by some issues will understand why it is hard not to "cross the line" when someone post a view, that they think that cannot be offensive but it is a kick in the guts for others.
For that reason it is better not to have political debates in the forum or do like I am doing now, do not participate or stop the subscription in a thread that start touching things that affect me. The thread about the Malvinas is an example.
Akelly, I did not mean to say that you have a go to the moderators or the admin, what I try to said is that it is very hard for the moderators to keep things going smooth when passions or just plain not acceptable behavior cross the line.
read the rules
it doesn't say what you seem to think it says...

You should start that thread, since I want to but don't have the courage...
But on a serious note, I had that same thought today when I was reading the first few pages. It's weird that slagging off a person based on their gender is cool, but not based on their political beliefs. Is this evidence that we really are post-enlightenment in Australia?
Does AFL fall into the religion category![]()
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.
