    There are two types of people in this world, good and bad. The good sleep better, but the bad seem to enjoy the waking hours

    [quote="matbor"]750 watt petrol Generator...

    Those cheap generators have gone down in price again, only $99 at home hardware at the moment... has anyone brought one in the past ? quote]

    At $100 I reckon they'd be OK. At $200, well, not so sure. Home Hardware? Hmm, will have to check if there's one near me

    check the specs very carefully ,at 750 watts ,that is probably its MAX output ,would think maybe that average output somewhere about 450-500 watts,and what (pardon the pun!) are you expecting to run on it, check the ratings of what items you are using ,then have another think about it ,we have a 4.6 KVa diesel genset that we used before getting electrickery connected, and the average household needs a supply of 5 KVa in general
    hope i havent confused you tooo much :roll:

    I sell these things at work...

    Our models are MAX rated a 750 Watts, while output is 650 - 700 or so Watts.
    The kVa is about 1.6 or so...

    Work out what you want to runn off the unit, add up the total wattage. If it is less than about 10% under the rated output i.e 600 - 650, you should be right, but after that you will be pushing it.

    If they are silenced they will be around the 60 - 65 decibel mark, otherwise they will be around the 70+ and will be hell noisey...

    If they have a good waranty they may be a good buy, its up to you.

    Must remember though, you should do a complete oil change after about 10 - 15 hours use and the oil is not cheap as it is a specific type.

    Good luck!
