That's the opposite of what I wrote, Ron.

    G'day Uncle.
The thing that really impressed me at Bold Street were the girls from the Sallies.
They worked tirelessly day and night to provide tea, coffee and sandwiches and any help they could give during a dreadful recovery.

I notice a couple of people who were directly involved refer to this as "the Bold Street Bridge" incident.

I had to check that it was the same event, but I have always known it as the Granville Train Disaster.

Is there some reason that locals refer to it by the street and those who only know it from media reports wouldn't recognise that label?

    Yes, I know it's a hijack, but I'm curious.

Both names identify the same event to me. I wasn't involved, but maybe 30+ years in emergency services is the reason.

    G'day vnx205

A lot of people that lived and worked in the Sydney inner western suburbs would have known it by either name,I think it was TV Media that first used the suburb name.

Personally I was lucky none of my workmates or friends were involved.

Back on track (no pun intended)...

Well, I'm back from camping - I left last Thursday, got back last night.

At the 4WD event, I teamed up (as navigator) with another ex-Telstra bloke (Team Telstra) in a 308 V8 powered FJ40. We did one run through the course then went off to do other stuff.

I had great weather. Yes, that is an 30+ year old Woods tent from Canada, still going strong.

There were a few visitors to the campsite. They snuck up on me, i didn't hear them even when they were only 3 metres away. They come at dusk, that's why the pics are a a bit noisy. I've done no post processing on them.

Later that night, we found out our time had made us one of the two finalists for the drive off and we weren't there to do it.

'Tis not the first time I've gone nude for the team. I had to do it in Japan when I attended a conference in Sapporo about 15 years ago. One night the hosts took all the delegates to a bath house.

I was the only Anglo at the conference and probably less inhibited than some of the other delegates.
