Has anyone noticed that it's in the Toyota dealership, most likely as a trade-in on a.....
Besides, the complexity of what can go wrong terrifies me.![]()
Mate I just added HSE 6 way electric HSE seats in black leather and wheel from the same vehicle. The car it came from had done 15000 k...from Hong Kong. They are like new. Transformed the feel. It's funny because you open the door and see the seats and wheel sitting above black sliders and tree bars.I have had her for 12 years and will likely have her at 20 years. The d3 are a nice vehicle and very competent off road and on. It does however come down to personal opinion. Interestingly in LRO Mag they did a review of all 4 discos as a feature and one guy who was the President of a LR club had a d2 then a late d3 and went back to a d2 because he found it all round to be the best vehicle. Now d3 owners don't get out your flame throwers it's just an observation. The d2 well maintained is a modern classic.
Cheers
Funny enough I still think the best disco and one of the best vehicles LR have ever made is the upgraded '96 onwards D1 Tdi auto.If I wanted a vehicle for life that can do everything it's the only choice based on performance, running costs, repair costs, ease of use and ability,no other make or model comes close IMHO. i go my 05 D3 V8SE with 230,000 ks for $16,500 drive away, like anyone i would have liked a diesel but budget didnt allow the xtra $10,000 ish that people were asking. so far its been great
Yeah I totally agree, it is a great buyers market for the D3's at the moment. You can get some great examples for really good money, especially considering the huge amount of car you get for your coin.
I was close to selling my D3 HSE TDV6 to get into a D4, but factoring the loss I'd take selling it on with 188kms on it, it just doesnt compute, it is worth much more to me to keep it, and you really don't get a huge change getting into a D4 (2.7)
Think about it, buy a fully loaded 07/08 D3 HSE Diesel for 18-20 grand. Compare that to what you would pay for a turbo diesel 100 or 105 series Cruiser Toymota.
Something that is equal to a D3 off road in a Landcruiser would need to have, rear locker at least, 2-3 inch lift, turbo fitted or factory turbo and chip (Still a fraction of the takeoff of a standard D3 Diesel) you are looking at 30-40 grand for one with 300+kms on the clock. And they are 3 years older!
And then you still have no comparison with on road performance and comfort of the D3.
