I just wonder what have changed during the years......
Forty five years ago, when I come to this wonderful country there not was this level of intolerance by the Australians, only some bogan poms treated the new Australians and Australia, for that matter, as inferior people or place, now intolerance it is so common that becomes a shame.

Perhaps the change is not in the amount of intolerance but the increased opportunities for people to display their intolerance.

A generation or two ago, people could do little more than share their intolerance with a few mates down the pub. Now the internet allows them to share it with the whole world.

breeding more intolerance wont fix any of it...

I thought the point being made in the OP was that tolerance is demanded for people based on religion, race, sexual orientation, to name but a few, but as soon as you mention that you are a licenced hunter/shooter, you are exempt from tolerance.

don't think too many people that know me would say i go out of my way to be politically correct...

i just not interested in seeing religious hatred / intolerance here, there are enough keyboard warriors round the traps now.

do i like a lot of what is happening, no i don't

i agree gun owners can face intolerance, just like many other sections of the community do at times.

you won't change it bleating on forums, you need to be influencing the people that supposedly represent you..

    best of luck with that......

What if he does not believe in god and this was offensive? This is probably why AULRO doesn't allow these types of convo's.
Mind you, it is perfectly acceptable for some reason to be against people who do not believe but not against people who do believe. Guess that is just society for you.

Anyway back to topic, personally in my daily life I don't see any intolerance nor do I hear it. The only place I see intolerance is on the internet.
So my real concern is the intolerance towards Land Rover owners, this is the issue we should be discussing!

I read that the Australian Defence League blokes have been following women in hijabs or burkhas as they go shopping or take their kids to school, taking pictures of them and posting the pics on Facebook so others can make insulting and abusively racist comments.
Say what you like about religion or race, but, if true, I reckon that's just a low, scummy, dog act by anyone. If someone did that to my wife I'd be ropeable.
These women have often suffered enough before coming to Australia without being subjected to that kind of vicious unAustralian persecution, I think.
Our Attorney General George Brandis telling people they have a 'right to be bigots' is just encouraging the worst behaviour by some people.

some might argue that over tolerance is as bad if not worse than intolerance.
