Dawn service was great, the Anzac address last year was by an RAF bloke, this year was RAN (Capt. of HMAS Stirling).

Happy that I didn't have to see Colin Barnett's features up there. Very much enjoy the jet flyovers!

Cooked a feed for the tribe watching the sunrise over this fantastic city, we truly are the lucky country

Enjoyed the Melany ceremony, particularly the flyover by 3 dual wings and a single wing (couldn't see what they were) and later an FA-18 went zooming over very fast and straight.

Wife and kids made it to the Yass service. I have made it out of bed today and that was about all I managed. Pity as we all normally make it.

Well what a day weather wise, I awoke @ around 0430hrs to the sight n sounds of the boom crash opera aka thunderstorm, bugger I said to self.
Around 0630 I started to move Land Rovers out from under cover etc and park up waiting for their respective drivers, when it started to bucket down, the open topped vehicles got a drenching.
I watched the storm on the internet and guessed by 1030hrs it would have moved well away and it did, the first Land Rover was away in pouring rain @ 0900hrs to secure our spot for ease of veterans right in front of the Ex-Services club, here they all are, only 7 made it.

the lead vehicle suffered a deflated tyre LHS rear so that needed attention quickly, also a late withdrawal 'Gladys' the S2A 109 Wksp vehicle would not start, unless you poured fuel down the throat of the carburetor, so rather than muck about trying to find the why etc again I withdrew it from the parade and contacted a disappointed driver, at this stage I'm unsure why it wouldn't start n run, but I will find out.
The parade got underway right on time 1115hrs

it all went well, no issues except my mate forgot to push the choke home on the gunbuggy it was a tad smokey LOL, anyway here is one of the elderly gents ex RAAF, he really enjoyed his ride as he did last year, he hopes to be able to participate again in 2015

anyway we had to leave before the service finished as it was starting to rain again, anyway that has been my day cheers Dennis

I would like to thank Disco for bringing this story to light. Teddy Sheean is a relative of our family. My father was also in the RAN but on destroyers. He had never met his cousin but had told this story to us as young kids, so we have grown up with the knowledge that we have a real hero in our family. My father always told this story with passion and emotion and it is something that I will always remember. One day Teddy will be granted the VC he so rightly deserves. Phil

Dawn service at Oxford Falls Peace Park - the War Memorial was put in by WW2 diggers.

Then drove to Mittagong. Followed two open top defenders that must've been used for a morning service (uniformed drivers) going through the heaviest rain I've seen in years. They must've been soaked.

They were pushing the speed limit too! - Don't blame them.
