Clarkson plays the idiot well. That's why he is entertaining.

"plays" being the operative word - just an actor following a script - probably hasn't got the intelligence to think up a quip of this own

I was watching a Top Gear show the other night where Clarkson and Hammond were discussing why British drivers were the best in the world. He commented on why drivers from other nations did not rate ............

Can't remember all of the comments they made about drivers from various nations, but the reason given for why Australians were not the best was because we are all drunk.

As with all of their comments, said tongue in cheek. I got a good laugh out of it. Perhaps I should have been offended ................

I agree with some of the comments on here - some people are way too precious. Fortunately most of us can still have a laugh at our own expense.

Still one of the most entertaining shows on TV if you ask me. I like a good laugh - and they do it so well.
    Cheers .........

you know on every special at some point someone it going to have their car tampered with and Clackson and Hammond are going ro run into James's car. still think it (or BBC) has the best camera work

I still remember a show I saw a long time ago where the three of them were testing how "water tight" their chosen cars were (obviously none of them chose a Landrover ).

Clarkson and Hammond had chosen cars, both of which had dismally failed the "water tight" test.

James May's choice of vehicle at the time was the winner. He was shown sitting inside the car which had been filled with water through the sunroof by a fire truck - water level inside the cabin was about up to the rear view mirror.

James was sitting submerged in the vehicle, wearing a scuba diving snorkel which poked out through the sunroof, with a very satisfied look on his face, when Clarkson walked up and jammed his thumb in the top of May's snorkel, stopping his air supply.

The look on Clarkson's face when he did this is one I'll never forget - just like a big school kid ....................

Might be childish .............................. but I love it.
    Cheers .........

Boom! you got it in one.

I love the show, the 3 goons are so perfectly matched and their on screen chemistry is nothing short of genius.
And the new season is hilarious!
