I gave up watching it when it went to Ch 9.

I doubt I'd go back as the show's formula is always the same. We see Supercars we can't afford and mini cars we wouldn't want, celebrities we've never heard of driving a car one wouldn't be seen dead in, and the three of them doing a stupid challenge whilst making fun of James. To me, the show is well past its use by date.

I tried watching it once and found it very unfunny. I never gave it a second chance.
He is definitely not a fool. Arrogant and self-opinionated would be my description of him.

    Nice comparison PR, well said.
Indeed such self-absorbed fools getting rich at the expense of others is sadly reflective of their mass audience. It's no measure of success in my book.

He's no fool. He gets to drive cars that the rest of us can only dream about driving, in destinations most of us dream about going to, meeting interesting people every episode, and he gets paid for it quite handsomely I'd guess. Where's the downside to that!!

I've given up watching Top Gear, but I watched a LOT of episodes before I got sick of it....

Like a lot on this forum , I don't watch Top Gear as much as I used to . It has become predictable . I do like Clarkson , and the other two as well . They mesh well together . In spite of his critics It is one of the most watch TV shows in the world . As for calling him a fool ! There are not to many fools that have made the millions he has . Or even become as successful . I have enjoyed some of the specials that they have done . But I suppose if you don't like them , It won't matter what they do , they get criticized . I can think of a lot worse shows on the TV than Top Gear , also a lot of TV personality's worse than Clarkson . There is always the remote !!.. Jim

Being rich has never been a cure for being a fool or xenophobic. In fact it often makes people more self-absorbed and more foolish. There is no excuse for Clarksons behaviour full stop, regardless of his wealth. His entire approach to life and his career is as an (often xenophobic and sexist) fool. It's pathetic, immature and offensive.

Can we get back to Land Rovers now? In my experience the majority of Land Rover owners are amongst the most considerate thoughtful open minded people around, constantly demonstrating their selflessness and openness to all on this brilliant forum.

A forum is like TV - you don't have to read this thread, you can turn it off.

I watched him (JC) as a guest panellist on "QI"? a few weeks ago. It was obvious he was out of his depth...at least out of his comfort zone. He was also very quiet! My regret is that with his phenomenal success...virtually all western countries and a viewing audience of over 300 million, he has never to my knowledge, taken on a legitimate cause for betterment of mankind generally.... at times he can no doubt be charming and funny...most of the time his behaviour is simply boorish... quite sad really.

Why would we want to do that? Plenty of other threads on Landys. Mr Clarkson makes me laugh and reminds me a lot of my Farther. I'm sure he can, and is a knob from time to time, but I can live with with that.

The world is too full of do gooders and PC dickheads. I don't mind someone telling it like he sees it.
