Andrew, I am not debating the topic just post the link because people asked form were the figures come from.
I have my view about global warming, it was debated many times before and I expressed my opinion there
Bugger! I have run out of chocolate peanuts, so I will go to bed and be ready to watch the world cup matches tomorrow morning

my thread was to draw attention to the onset of El Nino.

that it has put a thorn in some peoples feet surprises me.

and as usual some people....and often the same ones , are out to discredit others.

it was put up as a matter of interest not one of conjection.

if some member here feels otherwise , make your position known and dont use forms of innuendo.

Thanks Chucaro. Professor Stone is referring to sea temperatures. I would like to see the supporting article(s) for this statement:

    I'd better have an answer.

No you don't, but please don't post remarks as fact that can't be backed up when scrutinised.
I think perhaps you should of written this Andrew..(see red)

I think its important to be clear which is why I'm writing this.

Because anyone can post what they want, and anyone can post an opinion

it bugs me when I open these threads..where everyone is carrying on about backing up your opinion!..
An opinion is just that, how that person sees or takes a situation based on their own experience or findings.
So why should they have back it up, if its their take on whats happening.

An expert opinion is one that I feel should be backed up because its more likely to be seen as fact by the general masses or people that have a layman's opinion.

If you are stating something as fact, then yes you should be able to provide some evidence of what you're saying is fact..
If you cant then it doesn't have to be taken by anyone as fact, and now just gets down graded to just an opinion. so there for stop banging the drum and move on..

for the others demanding the evidence to the fact, if its not put forward again dismiss it as fact except it as just their opinion stop banging the opposing drum and again move on.

I'm not just saying this in regards to this thread but every single thread that has been shut down; because we get in to a cyber war over people making bold statements and then everyone carrying on about proving it...

The threads just become all about producing evidence/proof rather than the topic it self and goes around and around in circles causing people to get more and more frustrated eventually resulting in personal attacks, a whole lot of upset and a thread being shut.
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

    Excellent work there Chucaro.
    Nationally, +1.62 °C, but in South Australia, +3.03 °C.

WOW this topic always brings out the best and worst doesn't it! Justifiably, it polarises opinion one way or the other.

The thread was meant to put out an opinion on El Ninio and it's been hijacked to some degree (Guilty your Honour)
I guess my point was that we're ALL entitled to an opinion on absoloutely anything in this world. Its why we live in the country we do, no one gets arrested or tortured for stepping out of the accepted line.

It's been an interesting thread and some discussion of it will no doubt continue over the Wombat campfire in August.... Looking forward to that
