Yep very sad news he was a comic genius IMO anyway. I used to look forward to the young ones every week. I find British comedy far better than American rubbish and Rick was one of the best of the British funny men.

What a shame, he was a very funny man....
Yeah, sad day indeed.I agree that British humour is funnier than the Yank attempt at humour.
Yes very sad, I loved all of his performances in "The Young Ones" as Rik.
Classic stuff between Neil and Vivian.

This house will become a shrine, and punks and skins and rastas will all gather round and hold their hands in sorrow for their fallen leader. And all the grown-ups will say, "But why are the kids crying?" And the kids will say, "Haven't you heard? Rick is dead! The People's Poet is dead!"

Bad News, pardon the pun.
Kind of like Faulty Towers, I can't believe there was only ever 12 eposodes of The Young One's. As kids at school, we were obsessed about that series. We used to use so many of the lines - as kids do. Used to love Comic Strip Presents as well. He was great as Allan Bastard the New Statesman.
Drop Dead Fred wasn't one of his finer moments. Captain Flashheart in Blackadder was brilliant.
The Comic Strip was one of the best![]()
Sorry to be all anal about this, but if we are going to honour and remember somebody, can we at least do so by spelling their name correctly?
RIP Rik.
