50 years ago young sportsmen did stupid things but the media only cared about their performances on the sporting field or their injuries. The press were not constantly on the lookout for behaviour that could be made into a scandal and a salacious story. It is not just the young sportspeople that act up like this, but a considerable proportion of their peers also. Too much money, little life experience, near all night drinking and dance clubs all play a part.

50 years ago, or yesterday, condoning these incidents is wrong. If it were your son, doing it, or daughter putting up with it, would you turn a blind eye? 50 years ago, retribution could be taken, & was. That wasn't reported either. Try it now. Bob

I hope he doesn't take the usual footballer's way of the teary apology, he should stand up and tell everyone to get stuffed, if you want monkeys, occasionally they throw their poo. Won't happen, he will sook and apologise in the hope he will get another $650,000 a year contract.

Might regret getting those neck tattoos, now he will have to get a real job

Like the RMC Skype scandal, the problem is not footballers, the problem is the media. Perhaps such technology should only be in the hands of nerds, as they wouldn't have mates who photograph them urinating, or film them having sex with officer cadets.

He is representing a club, his employer, also Rugby League. If he worked for any other company and acted like that he would be sacked no questions asked. He was paid a lot of money and whether he likes it or not he has responsibilities to his employer even though he might not be at work, companies employ staff to watch facetube and twater and all those other stupid you need a life type of sites to keep an eye on their employee's,you can be sacked without comeback for posts made about your employer,if your wearing work cloths or in any way discredit your employer.I don't feel sorry for him,he's just another dumb tool out for publicity. The thing is, this idiot is 28 years old, not 8 years old. He is a man ( not mentally apparently) so at what stage does he grow up. He has now been sacked by three clubs and he still doesn't get it.

Under what rule Pat ?. If the company I work for tried to sack me for a photo taken of me doing something to myself, wearing clothes that don't have the company displayed on them and im my time, they would be in court faster than Bolt runs the 100mtrs

He done this act to himself, he didn't violate anyones privacy by filming them without their knowledge and display it to all and sundry.

Personally I think people caught drink driving is a far worse crime, but don't see many getting sacked for that.

I don't like Carney or what he did , but its nothing that has hurt anyone but himself.

Lots of people do this every day (most put it in a glass first though)

I remember quite a few years ago on jjj, I think it was Steve Cannane tried it on national radio and no one raised an eyebrow.

Carney needs to look at who he hangs round with. Anyone who posts that on social media is not a mate.

Are you saying he should just take it on the chin?

Jim Steins from Melbourne footy club ( I think , appologies if I have the wrong club) did it on the AFL footy show as a remedy to try and beat his cancer, didn't see the show get pulled from TV either.

What happened to "what goes on tour stays on tour". How did the picture get leaked? It's an idiotic act. But why does the world need to see it.

Not surprised he got sacked given his track record. As a high profile professional sports person, he has a responsibility to act as a role model. Fat chance.
