Well the first 2 that come to mind are,
    1. A cold humid winters night at Willowbank listening to a Nitro engine at idle on the start line
    2. The 265 (278) Hemi in my Val at 7000 RPM leaving the start line at SPIR.

Td5 at idle. Also my V6 mercury outboard when idling out of the water. Has a lovely 2 stroke smell to go with it.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I rather liked the sound of the Gipsy Major in the Auster I used to own - exhaust pipe? What exhaust pipe? Manifold? What manifold?. Straight pipe from each port about six inches long.

There should be at least 3 overspeed controls on the Woodward governor on a 92.

first being the hydraulic pressure controlling fuel rack and switching the solenoid on the blower flap.

second being the interrupter on there flywheel closing down the fuel solenoid

third being the flyweight governor closing down the fuel rack

all of those must have failed.....knowing the flap was disconnected

I don't know how one can tell lies to the other.

Brian, you may know but my recall is a Woodward EGB2P governor , which should over ride any overspeed of about 15%

I can recall setting them up on generators and the full power start up would throw them momentarily into overspeed with a whoof from the flap closing and immediate shutdown.

One could go on for hours about setting up multiple gensets and synchronising them.

Got up this morning and walked past the 97 Tdi auto... straight into the 95 V8 manual.

Sounds so damn good even with its noisy rooted lifters, just wish they didn't drink so much

Our AMG C63 which we sold this years sounded pretty good, at any rpm.
6.2L, & 500HP, of German muscle, making itself heard.

I used to have a 2 door Rangie with a 308 and Holley 650 in it. Sacrilege, I know, but it sounded incredible at idle and went like stink. Shame about the 33l/100km!
