    Ebola spreading to other Continents

For those who have down played this threat, just how many cases of other type of notifiable infectious diseases have arrived in Australia since this current Ebola outbreak in Africa started?

Arthur, the Ebola virus has been here for some time, however it is held at a high security facility, under strict quarantine conditions. In this facility, scientists are working on a vaccine. Can't come quick enough, Bob

I hope it is a false alarm like the one we had in NZ a week or so ago.

    Hi Bob

I agree that about the virus has been contained here before at the high security Australian Animal Health and Research Centre in Geelong.

The thrust of my previous posting was, the ease that an suspected Ebola victim has been able to arrive here in Australia.

Have we a plan in place, that can be implemented immediately to sanitise the aircraft, arrival facilities and locate the other passengers to inform them of their risk to exposure to this disease?

My apologies! I did post the wrong link.

I remember posting about some machines that were bought in during the SARS virus scare some years ago, and subsequently mothballed. They had the capacity to sense passengers temperatures, as they walked thru them, I believe. A question was asked in the media as whether the machines were being put back in service. There has been no answer, to that question, I believe. In the local paper, a passenger on an international flight wrote in the letters to the Editor page, that the only question asked of him upon returning to Aus. was if he had his yellow fever jabs up to date. I haven't flown overseas in a while, but I think the answer is no. to your question.

I would hope that Airlines & Government are not letting economics determine best practice. Bob

    Conditions for spread

Interesting looking on the map the pattern of the spread of Ebola cases.
It seems to me that the local climate could be determining the direction the disease is becoming the most virulent.

Is the spread of Ebola slowed by a change in atmospheric conditions?
