Is it legal to permit the entry of a virus such as ebola? - Duty of care to the general public?

By the way, who said the incubation period is a nice neat 21 days only ? - Was it the WHO ? Would be a bit embarrassing - especially to those 'unintentionally' infected - if it turned out to incubate a week or three longer...

The decision to not send aid works to help combat ebola is a very poor one IMO. The WHO needs another twenty teams and Australia has trained people who want to help but are being blocked by the government. As a country with more resources than west Africa i think we should be helping. It will take the effort of many people and countries to beat this.

i thought there was a good reason though.
there currently is no support plan in place if australian health workers get sick.
i think it was also mentioned its a 30hour flight back to australia for care.

G'day mate, I understand what your saying, but we cant just sit back and not do anything. We have the people that can help, and its very clear to me these people need our help. Ebola needs to be stopped at the source.

    its a sucky situation.
imagine the headlines if half the team died due to lack of medical facilities.
people would be calling for someone's head.

I hope some form of plan can be put in place, maybe a little far fetched but if there is an outbreak in Australia people are going to be asking why didn't we send a team there when we had the chance? Your right though, very sucky situation.
