Love those GSP's,my parents bred them when i was i kid. They are one of the few dogs that could catch hares.Lots of energy, wonderful companions.
They do seem to be longer in the legs these days though.
We nearly bought one last time we were looking for a dog,but wanted a breed that was smaller, ended up with a Springer.
In fact a Springer head looks very similar to a GSP,and they also have that hunting instinct, and lots of energy.
But she has no hope with hares, hasn't got the speed.Birds are more her go,quail, ducks, etc.
We chose the GSP's purely for their temprement and they dont seem to suffer from the evolutionary faults bred into other breeds e.g. pugs and boxers bred with snub noses so have trouble breathing, german shepards with low hips causes arthritis etc
Bull breeds like rotweilers (cute), dobermans (gorgeous) and staffs (my last dog) seem to be brilliant family dogs, very loyal but not too social with other dogs.
labradors are brilliant dogs too but seem to pile on the weight easy in older age, beagles and dalmations are just mental and mostly very difficult to train. its the wrong climate for huskeys or and cold climate dogs.
Attachment 84536 My boy is happy to be home. He has been staying with my sister for 10 weeks.
Well after the sad events that unfolded loosing our last Jack Russell we have got another little girl, i know its too soon still missing the last one very much but our big dog is sad having no one to spend time with. So here is the latest edition Olive (not my choosing). With Lily our cattle dog cross border collie.

Hahaha yeah she is so tiny very small although 8 weeks old, still small as loves running around although like a baby elephant still trying to find her feet clumsy but great to watch!!
Im sure Snoop is enough for you, keeps you busy and he's a great little fella!!
Thanks, yeah snoopy is great. Showing his age a bit and now partially blind in his left eye. He would love some company tho. I can remember snoop as a puppy running and falling everywhere. He was so head heavy. He would go for a drink and his bum would rise into the air as he put his head down....was so funny. He is the best mate I've ever had....love him to bits:D:D:D:D
Cheers Rod
Hahahaha agh the good days of when they are a pup oh so cute this one just runs around its a crack up the big dog not so keen on her yet but as times goes on they will be good mates I'm guessing!!
