Looks like Snoopy is not going to recover. Hes having an ultrasound today. Whats that going to tell me. That he needs an operation thats going to cost $2-3k? I dont have any $$ left. Im spending my pension paying for the ultrasound today $185. Thats not including the consult which the vet said she'll do for free today. I dont want to have to put him down but it might happen. Ill never get another pet. I cant handle it emotionally or financially if it gets sick. Ill wait for the results at 3pm.

Bugger, Thats Not good news Mate.
If Snoopy is suffering then unfortunately putting the poor little blighter down may be the kindest thing you can to do for him.

Damn, that's not good news Rod. When my older Kelpie was on her way out, she was still trying to run around but her back legs kept giving out on her. She also started messing the bed when she slept. When we finally put her down it was a kindness, but it still hurt - alot! My heartfelt sympathies.

Ultrasound done. Not good news. Pancreatitis still very bad. Stomach inflamed also hence why hes not eating. Hes lost over 700 grams weight. They gave me some strong painkillers for him. Now the bad news. He has a leision about the size of a 50cent piece on his liver. Thats what will get him if the pancreatitis heals up. So might have 6 months or longer. Depends if he heals up quickly or not. He needs to start eating. Bugger me, when i got him home $220. lighter in the wallet, he started to eat a little of the food he had. Hope he keeps it up. May be coz hes doped up a bit that hes eating. Ill be keeping an eye on him. Thanks everyone for ur well wishes. Its really much apreciated.

    Cheers Rod

    Bummer.
Hope the painkillers at least make him feel better and possibly let him eat something.
Hope the little blighter (and you) isn't suffering too much!

Bit of an update. Snoopy is eating again. Only a little bit but hes eating. Boiled chook. Im slipping his tramadol tabs into a small bit of fritz as he gobbles it down....usually. Today he decided to chew it. Spat it out quick smart. So it went back in even quicker and i got a chewed finger from it. I shoved it down. Hes now sleeping coz they cause drowziness. Im so happy hes eating. Not happy hes on a down hill slope tho. Hope i get a couple more pain free, for him, years. Thanks again for all the support and well wishes. Vet tomorrow again. See what they say.

    Cheers Rod

    That's good news
I have been taking Tramadol myself now for nearly 3 years due to a traffic accident that nearly destroyed my left forearm/hand and they are a really good slow release painkiller so they will definitely improve snoop's quality of life.

as we've recently found out, there are quite a few dog pills that are sold over the counter at human pharmacies
