    Alice Springs Defender

I would hate the experience of what the driver / passengers of this vehicle went through!

Given the minimum price against it ($120 if I read correctly), what sort of parts do you think you'd actually be able to use from a wreck like that.

Lights, bullbar, interior stuff and a bunch of bits and pieces under the bonnet.

Engine? Any drivetrain/ suspension parts likely to be in good shape still? Rear axle looks like it's seen better days.

Strikes me as a bargain if you need a load of spare parts but I have no experience of salvage from wrecks.

Frightening to look at, I do hope the occupants are ok.

That's was mine. It got rolled on 24th May on Tanami Road.

Bits that might of interest are:
Rear air locker (in detachable axle)
Warn XD9000 winch - serviced within the previous 6 months or so (with Dyneema Rope)
Clutch was replaced only 4 weeks before the accident.
The engine has 100,000km less than the odo reading (short engine replaced under warranty)
Two spare 235/85r16 BFG MT never used. Other tyres were in good enough condition then I would embark on a 6000km outback trip with them.
1x100AH & 1x130AH Deep Cycle batteries (if they're still there)
Everything else was frequently and well maintained.

    Anything else, just ask.

Badly damaged vehicle and a lot of encroachment into the cabin area!
Were you the sole occupant and what were the circumstances that caused the rollover?

Sam told us about rolling his Defender but only in a wanted advert back in June but no one picked up on it and asked.

I hope everyone came out of that unhurt, Sam!

    Mick.
Yeah, I was on a solo trip and just caught a bad bit of road.

I'd already passed a few cows and road trains and was trying to work out what I could see on the road up ahead and while I was focusing on that, I didn't see state of the (up until then perfectly fine) road immediately before me.

A rut caught one of the wheels and the car started to drift. I over corrected and went into a roll. The police who attended it looked like I had done two big rolls rather than lots of little ones. They see this kind of thing on a weekly basis up there.

I remember just as the car was beginning to go over thinking "This isn't gong to end well", then there was all the noise and **** flying arond in front of me, then it all went quiet and I got out ASAP.

I managed to get myself out with just a few cuts, bumps and light concussion. The roof has been squashed down somewhat since the accident - it wasn't that flat when I got out.

RFDS flew me to Alice Springs hospital. They stitched me up and bandaged me together and discharged me the same night.

There was only me in the car at the time. No major injuries - just the embarrassment!

Oh, there was also the fear of telling the missus what I'd done!

The nurses from the local aboriginal community looked after me until my RFDS flight arrived.

Aye, the missus is the biggest worry.

You shouldn't have posted that pic. Now we know what you look like!
