    Toilets on the Canning

On a recent trip on the southern [well 33 south ] section of the Canning stock route we were pleased to note that the industrious souls from trackcare WA have installed several elevated toilets at various points along the way. We were disappointed to find all the ones we looked in were full. There were instructions on how to empty but you needed a tow bar for the trailers and to dig a big hole to burn and bury. We had no tow bars and not fit enough to dig a big enough hole in hard ground, so the problem remains. So if you are going on the Canning you may need to take a tow bar rubber gloves and a big shovel ?

    ???

We had no problems digging holes anywhere along the canning. Even the OAPs in our group.

We avoided the built toilets for similar reasons. A single use toilet you dig yourself smells a lot better and has a better view.

I used to work for the government using the canning as an access route for geological mapping work. toilets on the stock route is not something I would have ever thought to appear. to me lts a bit of a frontere although since my time there, im sure tourism has had an impact. but toilets.... next they will have service stations and maccas.

The facilities are maintained by the traditional owners. There must have been a bit of a mess out there, to warrant toilets. Perhaps an indication of the numbers travelling the stock route now. Went down the gunbarrel in the eighties, not many there then. Giles had toilets, but the main attraction was the bar, Bob

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Toilets would be much preferred to crap stained toilet paper blowing in the wind, take your own toilets (Porta-Potti) with you, leave nothing behind, Regards Frank.
