Don't know why, but I just used the NRMA calculator saying youngest driver was 26, regular driver was 48 lost 4 points on licence no convictions or suspensions and it came up with about that number.
Does anyone know why every insurance agency wants to charge me $1100 for CTP insurance for the perentie? I find this outrageous, the government calculator predicts 620 for NRMA and then once I fill all the details in at the NRMA website it bloats out to $1100. When I bought it last year I paid 700 odd for CTP -with GIO, they just sent a letter for 1050, why so much more? I live in NSW if that makes a difference. Pretty annoyed about this because I don't understand the why behind it.

Is it a 6 x 6? Then it is a 4.5 tonne tandem drive truck. Does that have something to do with the CTP rating?

No it's a 4x4 hard top. It seems to me that all the insurance companies have cottoned on to the ex army interest and jacked the prices up for no reason. Of course I could also be jumping to conclusions...
It could be that they have assessed soft tops as being more dangerous in an accident. Try a state with fixed price ctp.
Just saw that it is a ht. Is that an option for the quote? What is the price for a 4bd1 one ten?
It's registered with the RTA as a "Utility" with canopy fitted - they decided that. I'm pretty sure all utes get shafted which is probably what's happening here.- I'll give the 110 county a go as a comparison as well tomorrow.
Cheers Baz.

You may find it is registered as a commercial vehicle or ute. These attract higher CTP fees, because a previous government wanted to make CTP cheaper for the average family aka sedan driver, so they lowered sedan prices and raised utes etc. My 2a was also $1100, whilst my County (Omnibus) and FFR are around the sub $700 mark-which is why I was very careful to have my FFR registered as a 'convertible'. One of the few instances where getting a blue slip not via AFM was a wise move![]()
In Qld. long ago the cheapest CTP was for a private use ute. So we at Leyland registered all LR's other than wagons as utes. This was too easy a target for the government so the private ute classification was removed.

Yes the ute thing is correct in NSW.
I bought a soft top Suzuki Vitara about 14 years ago in NSW and had a heart attack when the CTP was $700 plus.
I bought it to move to Qld and leave at my house on Magnetic Island.
When I went to reregister in Qld I visited the Mt Gravatt Dept Transport and a lovely young lady agreed with me that it was a convertible, especially since it had seats in the back.
Good little earner for the insurance companies but based on the RTA category.
