Great outcome! I saw a tv show a while back where this happened. The elderly matron suddenly took the baby and put it under the cold water in the wash basin. The cold temperature shocked the baby into breathing.
A mother who lives nearby gave birth to a baby recently. Unfortunately the baby was not breathing when it was born. The medical staff went into action stations and tried for an hour to get the baby to breath. At the end of this the staff told the mother that the child was dead, and gave the child to the mother to "say goodbye". When the mother held the child, it began to breath. Yesterday test confirmed that all is well with the child. Nature truly is wonderful..

Is it my imagination, or is there a reply missing from this thread?
Great work by the mods if there is.![]()
That would be a terrific result if all were well but the first thing that I thought was what about brain damage to the baby if it hadn't breathed for so long.
If it hadn't breathed for over an hour, was it dead ?
It wasn't breathing as we know it before it was born but after ???
I dont know much about these things obviously.
Yes these questions crossed my mind but I have spoken to a member of the family and the baby was indeed pronounced dead. It was one hour before the mother got to clasp the baby to her and it was then that the baby "came to life" The baby is still in intensive care but progress has been good and parents have been assured that there is no brain damage. Who knows what is down the line but for now things are looking better than on the morning of the child's birth.
