I'm coming over to the east over the break (Driving) And should be in Melbourne from about the 30 Dec until 10 Jan 05. And am doing the usual touristy things like The Puffing Billy Rail for the day, The Victoria Street Markets and the Great Ocean Road. Can anyone suggest other things the family might enjoy.
The family consists of Mr an Mrs Tyrepower, 14 year old super cool wearing shades inside know it all daughter and 6 month old daughter.
Suggestions appreciated.
Cheers Tyrepower

one 14yo and one 6month old :?:
I'm betting somebody was a surprise :!:
The Ocean Road is great (no pun intended) of course. Check out the Flagstaff Hill maritime museum in Warnambool (if for no other reason than your too-cool daughter will hate it)
Can also suggest a helicopter ride over the top of the Apostles (there are heaps underwater that you can't otherwise see) if you are up for it.
Plenty of good Zoos around Melbourne too if you like that kind of thing.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Healsville Sanctuary is a great wildlife zoo. Walkaround with very few cages.
Great Ocean road is good but carefull of the tour buses full of (well you know).
Mount Olinda gives you a lookout over the whole of Melbourne, at dusk its a great sight watching the lights come on. (you need a good red for this )
Botanical gardens are pretty impressive. ( Checkout the eels in the lake )
South Bank and the Casino at night, lots of eating places and heaps to see.
Lygon Street Carlton, Saturday night, any type of food from any country.
Wilsons Promontry , great day trip, wild with lots of wildlife. southern most point of mainland Australia.
Some great 4x4 tracks close, Toolangi and Gembrook, heaps more further out.
Winery trails , Yarra Glen, Warburton and Healsville.
etc , etc ,,,,

I never made it to that Harry's - but the ones in the UK are VERY popular, especially the one in Yorkshire where all the pensioners stop for their lunch on a coach day drip out
