Thread: Ever wonder where your first Landie is now?

Yes - I also wonder - a 1954 series 1. Bought in 1978 renovated in 1979 and sold in 1985. Was my every day driver covering up to a 1000km a week.

I traded it in 1985 to buy a new Suzuki and it was seen for about the new two years around Chatswood but I guess I guess it is now with many other Landies in Landrover heaven.

No. I don't wonder where my first Landy is. It's in the front yard. In the drive way as I type.
Why would you sell these treasures?

Yeah the three Landies I have ever owned, I still own, can't part with my firstbornbought. Can see two of them from my window and the third is secure elsewhere, I trust.

Our first Land rover was an ex Australian army LWB series 2, 2.25 petrol, bought in 1974, it had lifted suspension and cut out guards, a great off roader that would go past and over anything except a petrol station, not good as I was using it through the week to drive 50 Klm each way to work every day, traded that on a "family" station wagon in 1978 when number 1 son came along, and of course it has most probably gone to LR Heaven now, but.............
Just a few months back we bought a Disco 1 off the guy we sold it to about 4 years ago, being emotionally attached to the old beast I could not resist buying it back when it turned up with a blown head gasket, looking rather sad and sorry, it was really cheap in it's "not going" state.
What has been sad for me is to see the state of degradation that had occurred due to lack of proper care and maintenance over the past 4 years and 100,000 odd kilometres. I am making it an"occupational therapy" project and there is certainly a lot of "occupation" in the work ahead, lucky I am retired.
So maybe with some other brands the question of what has become of my old........whatever, is not such a big deal but as Land Rover people tend to be a bit emotionally attached to the brand, well, sometimes it's better NOT to know what has become, so be careful what you wish for. Gaz

Yes my Dad used to watch Kingswood Country (it is back on TV now and a great laugh) and learnt all about Neville so my Dad thought he would do a Mrs Neville.

34 years later Mrs Neville is still there and so are the edges of the pond that now form a mowing strip though some holes were punched in the bottom of it and filled in so plants could grow.
