Peabody coal mine workers sacked by text message

Up to 100 workers at a Queensland coal mine have been told via text message that they no longer have jobs.

The contractors, employed by Thiess mainly as drivers and machinery operators at Peabody's Burton coking coal mine in central Queensland, received the SMS on Thursday.

So many companies not conducting themselves in s suitable manner when sacking or making people redundant. I know BHP when they made us redundant acted abhorrently and breached their charter values and code of conduct in so many ways, but what do you do? They just get away with it.
