Yes, an updated exterior would be good for the reasons you say. But it should be the practical square shape.

You are right RPM, to a certain extent. Whilst we love the look of the defender because we can appreciate the heritage behind it, there are many possible buyers who may respond to a more modern look. Now dont get me wrong, i dont want the defender to change to much, but a few modern styling cues and as you said a better thought out and more comfortable interior may increase sales immensely, oh and increase the range aswell. There will always be room in the ozzie 4wd market for a no frils 4wd because whilst vehicles are changing the country we are driving on still remains harse and demanding on equipment. I simply feel that a slight change in shape may draw the attention such a great vehicle needs, we need a vehicle which give people like 4wd monthly, ovelander and 4x4 Australia, nothing to gripe about. The Defender doesn't need a face lift. It needs a more powerful engine, an auto option, improved interior, safety. I see no need to "modernise" the look. If they did that they would improve sales no end.
There's not much wrong with it.
Had a Jeeper looking at the Defender today, wants more space!

I am not saying change the square shape, as you say it is practical, and whilst some people might compare it to a house brick it does serve a purpose, for example interior mods are easier because things stack in easier. But a new slant on the square shape might attract some wanted attention. As they say a change is as good as a holiday. It cant stay idenical for ever. Matt

The problem was with my PocketPC, which I'd not used to post on AULRO before. I posted one reply, and then every time I went back to the page another reply appeared! So I'm back to the laptop now instead.Originally posted by Ace
