LR in danger from Jeep ?

On another thread we are discussing the new Defender and it's importance to LR in securing the important agriculture / tradesmens / mining / industrial market - as well as serious recreational four wheel drivers.

Well the latest JEEP 'Gladiator' concept ute looks like it has what it takes.

    Judge for yourself:

(love that iconic side-mounted spare. Pretty bloody practical too).

The danger for Land Rover is being left behind in this important market.
If LR stops making utes, and Jeep makes this one, I might have to aspire to a Jeep

If you want to read more about the Gladiator, try here:

    What do you think :?:
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Sheeet I have to say I like it - though its very Humvee, and if thats the case Ive seen Humvees in Aust at Shoalwater Bay topo low and too wide.

I did see a Ford Bronko concept car recently that looked very defender....

I just hope that when the new Defender is released they increase the range to incorporate everyone. Take the Holden Rodeo for example. I was talking to a dealer and there are 16 possible model combinations, depending on what you what. If land rover offered that in the defender range, i dont think there would be a trady, 4wder, mining etc who wouldnt be catered for, and the rodeo is no where near as robust as the fender. Imagine if Land Rover got their act together and developed a trouble free vehicle with extended servicing and good parts availability, how quickly the likes of Telstra, Country and Integral energy and the mining companies would snap them up. matt

A couple of years back I was talking to an electrician who had a Defender 110 as his work vehicle (for his own business). His accountant had told him it was the best option as it was the only real 4WD with a 1-tonne payload and that he needed the 1-tonne payload for tax reasons.

    I can't remember the reasoning.

Anyway, the bloke was happy, he got his Defender and could write the cost off against tax.
